The development of PX-16 gasoline desulfurization mercaptan catalyst is to solve the problem that the light oil contains mercaptan sulfur, which not only has an unpleasant smell, but also fails the product inspection and the Doctor test.

The foreign technology for deodorizing (desulfurizing mercaptan) in light oil is most represented by the Merox process developed by the UOP company. From 1958 to now, the UOP company has successively developed representative process technologies such as liquid-liquid deodorization, trace alkali fixed-bed deodorization, and alkali-free deodorization.

The whole process direction mainly focuses on how to reduce or even completely eliminate the use of caustic alkali, and at the same time develop supporting highly active catalysts and activation agents.

This catalyst has good adaptability to different catalytic raw materials, among which the catalyst has high activity, long service life (the one-time life is at least more than three years, and there is no need to switch and regenerate during the whole process), is easy to use, and the whole process basically does not discharge pollutants. The quality indicators of the deodorized gasoline, such as copper sheet corrosion, oxidation stability, and storage stability, by adopting this process, have obvious advantages over the alkali-free deodorization process, conventional fixed-bed, and liquid-liquid method.
